Quarterback Projections part:2 – 2016

I have now looked over the rest of the starting quarterbacks and will add 10 new to complete the top 20 list. Remember this list is based on their floor, not their ceiling. I am not looking for a high risk high reward QB in this ranking. I want a stable QB with a high floor. Mariota and Winston will be discussed later this week and will not be a part of the top 20 this time. Let’s dig in!

Top 20 Quarterbacks based on their FFP/Game Floor

  1. Drew Brees – 17.3
  2. Andrew Luck – 16.6
  3. Cam Newton – 15.8
  4. Carson Palmer – 15.7
  5. Matt Ryan – 15.7
  6. Aaron Rodgers – 15.0
  7. Russell Wilson – 14.9
  8. Ryan Tannehill – 14.8
  9. Matthew Stafford – 14.6
  10. Philip Rivers – 14.6
  11. Jay Cutler – 14.3
  12. Tom Brady – 14.2
  13. Ben Roethlisberger – 14
  14. Sam Bradford – 14
  15. Tony Romo – 13.8
  16. Blake Bortles – 13.6
  17. Joe Flacco – 13.6
  18. Alex Smith – 13.2
  19. Andy Dalton – 12.9
  20. Eli Manning – 12.3

As mentioned in last week’s ranking, these are based on measuring all their games in the last three years. My biggest reaction comes from seeing Brady and Roethlisberger that low on my rankings. Looking at especially Brady’s  Season FFP/Game average he has a significant drop when looking at how his games vary in performance and a lower floor than for instance Ryan Tannehill. To see projection calculation see last week’s post.

Next week I will rank the top 20 QB’s based on the ceiling instead of their floor and see the difference. Everything depends on what you are looking for in your QB.
