CD Carter said he wanted more Kicker takes so here we are. Kicker Ceiling rankings lead by a guy that has the smallest sample size of the entire group. If this post does not get your blood pumping I know you like football and if it does I am pretty sure you like soccer.
For everyone who has shown interest in the CSD Fantasy leagues, more information will come shortly. I will reach out to everyone personally and ask some more questions of what type of league you are interested in and what your buy-in preference is. If you would like to be contacted, write me on twitter @qalled with the hashtag #CSDLeagues
My Ceiling Rankings derive from a player’s performance over the last three years or all the games the player has played in the league. The Ceiling is the most amount of points I can expect a player to have on a given week. For instance, I don’t expect Charles Sims to score over 11.6 Fantasy Points on even on his best day. There is always a possibility that a player will out-score the Ceiling but, there is only a 16 % chance that it will happen for every player, subsequently there is a 84 % chance that he will score below the Ceiling. The more games a player has played the more accurate the Ceiling is. This of course fluctuates a little bit but as examples both Devonta Freeman and LeSean McCoy only outscored their Ceiling 26 % of their games last year. It is important to note that the 16 % chance is for every game, not over the course of the season. Last thing, Rookies does not get a Ceiling, they have not played a single game and there are analysts with more knowledge about them than me.
Please don’t sleep on kickers and DSTs, they can win you 1-2 games a year! Take your time to study the difference in Floor, Ceiling and their ADP before making a quick judgement on who to draft or at least care a little bit. Last year I made my Rest of Season Kicker rankings that helped me get Matt Bryant pretty early on and realize that Dan Bailey was no longer Mr. Perfect.
In this list there are a couple of guys that intrigue me. The first kicker is Chris Boswell. Having that high of a Ceiling while being drafted that far behind the other high Ceiling guys is something that should be taken into consideration when drafting. Of course you should take the Floor into account too but if you play a lot of DFS he is definitely a guy to pick from time to time.
Up next is a group of guys, Cairo Santos, Dustin Hopkins and Graham Gano. They all have the same Ceiling and similar ADPs. They are much cheaper than Vinatieri even though his Ceiling is only 0.2-0.3 points higher.
Lastly, Dan Bailey is a guy I most likely won’t draft in 2017. I love him as a Cowboy but as a fantasy player I am not buying it. You have to pay way too much for a guy that will give you a safe floor thanks to all the points the Cowboys score but he will never help out in carry your team for one week.
